Phil Spector put his fingerprints on the very first John Lennon single to win a gold record for sales of more than a million copies. “Instant Karma (We All Shine On)” was one of three non-album singles to be released by Lennon during the period in 1969 and 1970 that included “Cold Turkey” and “Give Peace a Chance.”
In the US, it far exceeded both with a #3 showing on the charts and a million-selling gold record award within the same year as its release.
